Honoring the Past, Embracing the Future
for Kannapolis
City Council 2019
Welcome to the Official Campaign Site of Ryan G. Dayvault
To my fellow Kannapolis citizens,
I am Ryan Dayvault and I am running for re-election to the Kannapolis City Council in the November 2019 election. At 33 years of age, I hope to continue serving on our city council and continue to bring a new perspective to the table. As a member of one of original families of Kannapolis, I am committed to making Kannapolis succeed on all fronts. When my great-great grandfather, Paul M. Dayvault, sold his farm to the brokers representing Mr. J.W. Cannon in 1905, his farm became the site of the Town Lake, the Main Office, and Mill #1, he never would have envisioned another transformation happening to Kannapolis 100 years later. We are in the midst of the most important time period of our lives in the town that we call home. It is of the highest level of importance that strong, fundamental decisions are made for the success of all of the town's citizens. This includes being able to create jobs for all citizens, being able to retain the town's high school and college graduates, being able to restore the pride associated with calling Kannapolis home, being able to revitalize Downtown Kannapolis, being able to strengthen and revitalize Centerview, Midway, North Kannapolis, New Town, Carver, Shadybrook, and all of the other older neighborhoods that make up the "original Kannapolis". Diversifying the city's economy by luring new industry, distribution centers, and service industry jobs goes hand and hand to rebuilding Kannapolis. With the city's purchase of Downtown Kannapolis, we have an opportunity of a lifetime to re-create the city and rebuild our downtown. This purchase will allow for the largest redevelopment effort of our city's history and be in control of our own destiny, for the first time in our history. We must push hard for the restoration of Historic Downtown Kannapolis, to maintain our identity, while creating new spaces for future generations to enjoy and thrive in. We must continue to encourage strengthening our Public Safety Departments and our Parks and Recreation. Youth Athletics and developing a community center are very important to helping our community grow, promote young families to live here and help those in need. We must support and foster growth in the new areas of the city, such as the Kannapolis Parkway, while using all avenues of local government to encourage smart growth on Cannon Boulevard, Lane Street, and Dale Earnhardt Boulevard. The NC Research Campus will no doubt drive a lot of growth that will happen in the future, but we must create an environment that encourages other outside development, independent of the Research Campus, in order to create a strong and vibrant economy.
